Hungary Live Talks – International Theater in the time of Coronavirus

In the frame of Hungary L!ve Talks on May 5th at 7.30 pm (GMT + 2) Beata Barda (Trafó House Budapest), Kristin Marting (HERE Arts Center New York) and Christina Liata (Onassis Stegi Athens) will share their thoughts about the current situation and about the long-time effects of the crisis on the performing arts industry, answering questions posed by theatre critic Tamás Jászay (Revizor).

The mission of Hungary L!ve group is to create a platform for dialogue between representatives of the Hungarian and international cultural life – something they find even more important during the time of the lockdown.

Therefore they’ve decided to continue their L!ve Talks series online, posing the questions that every professional is facing right now to theater creators, managers, directors and performers.

What support can the sector rely on at the moment in the given countries? Are there any plans for what’s next? In the speaker’s opinion what is the effect of our digital “imprisonment” on live performing arts?

On the occasion of the first online L!ve Talk Beata Barda from Trafó House (Budapest), Kristin Marting from HERE Arts Center (New York) and Christina Liata from Onassis Stegi (Athens) will have a discussion about these topics.

Tamás Jászay, theater critic will moderate the talk in English, which will be available on the Hungary L!ve Festival – New York Facebook page from 7:30 pm (CET) on May 5th.

Besides the panel discussions they are also bringing international theater productions to our homes. On their Facebook Page you can find recordings of plays by artists such as Romeo Castellucci, Pina Bausch or Peter Brook and productions from Japan, the Sadler Wells Theater and the National Theater from England, as well as the Rimini Protokoll and Schaubühne from Germany.
